My Obama dream for Malaysia
Around 11am this morning, as the final polls in the US Presidential elections closed, I sat in front of my laptop watching the live coverage of the US Presidential election. As the California polls closed, Barack Obama was declared as the 44th President of the United States (Malaysiakini report).
At that moment, I started to become teary. "The politics of racial grievances has died tonight!" bellowed one political commentator. America has managed to ignore and put aside its ugly and violent racial past, its dark ages of slavery, of the Confederacy and the civil war, of the Jim Crowe segregation laws, to elect an African American, a black man to the post of the President of the United States. I wept because at that instance, I saw hope in humans, that they are fundementally not racist, and that a nation of predominant whites can elect a black man to the post of the most powerful man in the world. I wept because from this remarkable victory I saw a simmilar glimmer of hope in my beloved country of Malaysia.
I wept because I saw hope that all human beings, be it Americans or Malaysians, can ignore racial lines and vote for a person, not because of his skin colour or race, but for his attributes and conduct. I optimistically hope that what I see today in America, one day, I can see in Malaysia. I hope that one day, words like Ketuanan Melayu and the NEP can be washed from our vocabulary and we can join America in becoming the land of freedom and liberty, where we elect people not based on their race or skin colour, but based on their attributes, their conduct, their worth. I hope that one day, Malaysia can have its Barack Obama.
Like Martin Luther King, I have a dream. My dream is that one day, I can bellow the same line I heard today: that "the politics of racial grievances has died in Malaysia! The politics of racial grienvances has finally died!"
This is my dream, and today has given me hope that I can achieve it one day.
Yes we can. Yes, Malaysia, we can!

Fireworks from Anwar in Parliament tomorrow! (ref. malaysiakini)
Tomorrow Parliament will reopen after the one month Hari Raya holidays. It will also mark the first session after the 16th of September pledge by Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar has indicated that he has enough MPs to crossover to form the federal government. If this is indeed the case, tomorrow will be one of the most crucial parliamentary sessions in the history of Malaysia.
However, no motion of no confidence has been filed. Instead, what will occur tomorrow is the Budget 2009 debate. Led by Anwar, who is renouned for his economic powress, the opposition will have their first chance to attack the Budget in parliament. Anwar is the first speaker of the day, followed by Penang CM Lim Guan Eng.
It will also be the first time that Najib will be addressing the parliament defending the budget as the Finance Minister. Lets see how Najib, an economist by profession holds his ground.
While no no confidence motion has actually been filed, Anwar did hint at something special occuring tomorrow. Looks at Malaysiakini's report:
Asked whether a Pakatan take-over would happen by the end of the year, he replied: "Why should we wait for so long? It will happen soon... very soon."

Najib + Mahathir - Be afraid. Be very afraid (ref. malaysiakini)
Our Deputy PM Najib Tun Razak is tipped to be the PM by March next year. He is tipped to be the head of the executive branch of the government by March next year. He is going to be a very powerful man next year.
"Mr Najib is a carbon copy of Dr Mahathir and we fear in his rise to power a possible return of iron-fisted rule and intolerance for dissent and curbs on he political opposition," said a diplomat with a European mission, on condition of anonymity......"I welcome the departure of Abdullah and am ready to give advice to the new overnment," Mahathir told local reporters after confirming that Abdullah as leaving. - malaysiakini.com
Ex PM Mahathir is also going to be a very powerful man by March next year (Full Malaysiakini's report here). He is going to return to power through Najib. He is going to be like Putin.
On one hand we have a man that purportedly blew up a woman, and on the ther hand we have a dictator that jailed hundreds of dissenters trying to regain power.
Forget ISA. Forget the sedition act.

These two men in power are enough to scare me shitless. I can already see the fleeing men fearing for their lives.

Anwar's black eye fiasco thickens - Woah baby, woah! (ref. malaysiakini)
When the media gag order was put into place, no one raised an eyebrow. No one even noticed it. I think The Star didn't even report it. Malaysiakini did report it, probably trying to hint at the Malaysian public that there is more than meets the eye.
But when the gag order was lifted less than a day ago, the evidence was damning. The evidence was shocking. And the evidence left me thinking how stupid I was in 1998 to believe all that propaganda.
Apparantly I am not the only one to go wow. My favorite Malaysian blooger 5XMom also went wow.

But back to the point.

To put it in simpler terms (anyone else found the Malaysiakini.com report slightly confusing?)
- Mat Zain (retired police officer that probed the black eye incident in 1998) said he “believed Abdul Gani (current AG and prosecutor in Anwar's 1998 case) concealed important facts from Mohtar’s (the AG in 1998) knowledge”
- Mat Zain also said there was an attempt to insert "insert irrelevant and suspicious statements" into the medical report by this Dr Abdul Rahman. Mat Zain is confident that Dr Abdul Rahman has never examined Anwar. In other words, this Dr Rahman has supernatural powers. How else are you able to write a medical report without meeting the patient.
- Mat Zain also said that Gani was on the 30th floor in Bukit Aman when Anwar was assaulted and he knew about the assault.
- Mat Zain also said that Gani withheld the results of Zain's investigation from Mokhtar. He received it from Mat Zain on the 26th and 30th of October. Mokhtar said on 7th of November that he had not received any report. Must have been lost in the mail. If anything its Pos Malaysias fault!
So its Anwar vs. Zain, Zain vs. Gani, Gani vs. Anwar.
Gotta love that love triangle.
But on another note, it is unprecedented and ridiculous for such a senior administrative officer to keep his position when he is under investigation, putting him in a position to be able to tamper and hide evidence. That has already started, with Gani's signing of the order to transfer Sodo Mee II to the high cout (silencing the witness).
Gani Patel should take indefinite leave until he is cleared or sacked. That is the only way to do it.
Reforming, Badawi? Then get your ass into the AG's chambers and suspend him.

Najib's decision against pegging wise - EXCLUSIVE
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Najib Tun Razak, despite his shortcomings, made a good decision not to repeg the ringgit.
From a economic point of view, his decision not to repeg would correct conform to the economic viewpoint of many ISI (Import Substitution Industrialisation) economists. In short, ISI economist like Ha-Joon Chang argue that a development of a nation should be a twofold process - first install high trade barriers and protectionist policies, then when the nation has the capacity to compete in the international market, remove those barriers.
The ringgit peg was done in 1997 as a counterbalance to the shrinking economy and the reduction of the competitiveness of many companies in the nation. The ringgit peg was one of the many interventinoist and protectionist policies taken to protect our industries.
We don't need to protect our companies right now. Instead, we need a high capital flow of income, and by relaxing our barriers and protectionist policies, it would certainly augur well for foreign investors.
In addition, the ringgit peg would take a lot of resources to implement, something our nation doesn't have right now. The ringgit doesn't drastically need repegging, as it is settling around a relatively stable position.
But that doesn't mean that Najib should rest on his laurels now. He should continue to monitor the international economy and make suitable decisions.
RPK Got Screwed - What Are You Going To Do?
Lawyers said the police had informed them this morning that they would be taking Raja Petra to the detention centre. Yes, I too have placed, not only my money, but also my freedom on Anwar. And if Anwar fails to deliver his promise on 16 September 2008, not only he but I as well am headed for a fall. But I have confidence he will do it. And I have confidence that my stay in Kamunting will not be for two years but for a mere two weeks. But if I am wrong…..well, then see you maybe in six or seven years time, because for sure Najib Tun Razak will not release me in 2010 when he becomes Prime Minister. What he would do, instead, would be to rollover my two-year detention another two years, and another two years, and another two years, until I am too old to think and write anymore.
Today, famous political blogger Raja Petra Kammarudin, affectionately known as RPK was supposed to have his Habeas Corpus application be heard.
The hearing never materialized.
This morning, Syed Hamid Albar the Home Minister signed and approved RPK's arrest under section 8 of the ISA act, which means that not only he would be detained for 2 years, he would not be able to challenge the legality of the arrest.
Malaysiakini report: Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamarudin will be sent to the Kamunting Detention Centre in Taiping, Perak today to begin his two-year detention under the Internal Security Act, said his lawyers.
Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar had signed his detention order last night for the blogger to be held without trial under section 8(1) of the tough security law. Under the Act, the government can renew his detention indefinitely.
In short, RPK got screwed. The government outmanouvered him. In the 11th hour, the charge went from section 7 to 8. No more Habeas for you.
The Habeas hearing was called off. Bye bye. Off you go to Kamunting for a 2 year holiday.
It looks like RPK's predictions came through.
2 years. And 2 more years. What is infinite times 2?

Raymond Tan is greedy

Tan met with Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman this morning to discuss his position in the state cabinet since he is no longer in BN. He is required to resign his posts, but was reportedly reluctant to do so.
After the meeting, Musa announced that Tan would remain as his deputy for now.
This Raymond Tan ar... Quit the party (SAPP) but didn't quit the party. Resign from his Deputy CM post but didn't resign. Want to become an independent but didn't. Resign from the cabinet but didn't.
So what does he want?
I'll tell you what he wants. He wants everything. He wants to be part of SAPP, the cabinet, and the Deputy CM post. He wants everything. Semua pun nak. Semua pun sapu.
If this is not greed, I don't know what is. What kind of lame excuse is 'SAPP didn't send in a letter to the BN leadership so I don't need to send in my resignation' is?
First he said he would send in his resignation letter to the CM. Then he decided he wanted to keep his post. So he goes back on his word, and keeps his post. He then has the cheek to say 'I'll leave this up to the CM'.
It is these politicians that give politicians a bad name. Greedy. Power hungry. Opportunistic.
I think its a blessing in disguise he is not in the opposition.

Malaysian bloggers for ISA Hartal (Nationwide strike)
Recently I published an article calling for a Hartal (Nationwide strike) to be declared protesting the use of the ISA and calling for the abolishment of this draconian law (Hartal (Nationwide strike) - The solution for 1947, the solution for ISA?). The article got linked to malaysiakini, and since then has gained considerable popularity.
But it has been mainly all talk no do.
If we are really serious about Hartal-ing, then we should, for a start, determine several things:
- What date will the Hartal be? - The date chosen should preferaly have historical significance.
- How do we spread the Hartal message? - Sms? emails? Featured on Malaysiakini?
- How do we organise this? A comitee to Hartal ISA should be set up
- Who should we get on board - If we were to get prominent bloggers and politicians, the Hartal would gain considerable publicity.
Update: It looks more and more likely that Anwar is going to be arrested under the ISA. The Hartal suggestion looks more and more rosy to me now.
Lets just ISA them all!
As if lying to the rakyat about the reasons for the ISA detentions were not enough, UMNO continues to make hypocritical lies to the nation:
The following is a Malaysiakini report on Muhyiddin:
"Why is he so obsessed with taking over power that is legitimate. Why does he want to form a government through an undemocratic way," asked the minister, adding that he has faith in BN MPs who have pledged their loyalty to the ruling coalition.
First he lies to the nation by calling Anwar's attempts to form the government undemocratic. Mr. Muhyiddin, I think you should go and look up what democracy is. What Anwar is doing is the very essence of democracy. If elected officials think that their constituents are best served by defecting to Anwar, then they should do so, without threats or barriers. The essence of democracy, the checks and balances, are all in play here, Muhyiddin. In democracy people vote. In a democracy elected officials vote for who they support. If the elected officials, acting as checks and balances, disagree with the current administration, they defect. This is democracy. This is in no way undemocratic, so stop you and your gang's bullshit and crap about crossovers being undemocratic, and perhaps learn a little about democracy.
Then he goes on to say (Malaysiakini report):
So by refusing to meet Anwar, you are serving this country... how?Asked about Anwar's request to meet Abdullah, Muhyiddin exclaimed: "No! There is no need for him to meet the prime minister. Don't be fooled by Anwar. Don't fall into the trap, he has something up his sleeve."
UMNO: I want to hear everything, oh rakyat of Malaysia. Tell me everything, ugly or beauty. Just don't tell me anything I don't like. No, I don't want to listen to you journalist that criticise me. No, I don't want to listen to you, opposition leader. I only want to listen to the rakyat
Oh, and you journalists and reporters should report everything honestly. Tell me the truth! Just don't report anything I don't want to hear. If not I will ISA you. Same goes to you, MPs. And bloggers. And activists. And NGOs. Oh well. Lets just ISA them all.

Stating that he would not meet the Pakatan Rakyat leader to discuss any transition of power plan, the premier also challenged Anwar to reveal the names of the alleged Barisan Nasional defectors.“There is no need to meet him on the so-called power transition,” the embattled premier told newsmen after handing Hari Raya goodies to senior citizens and students in his Kepala Batas parliamentary constituency today...
...However, Abdullah brushed aside the claim as a mere publicity stunt by Anwar to "popularise himself".
“If he really has the list of MPs, he should just reveal it, and need not wait to meet me. He does not have the list. He is a liar,” said the prime minister....
Not enough? What about this Malaysiakini report on Muhyiddin?
Umno vice-president Muhyiddin Yassin today blasted Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim for his psychological war against Barisan Nasional in the bid to topple the government.
He also revealed that former Umno strongman Anwar was using his (Muhyiddin's) name to entice other BN parliamentarians to join the Pakatan Rakyat alliance.
"This is a ploy (by Anwar)... by (putting) my name on top the list (of BN defectors), hoping to garner support from other BN MPs," he asserted.
Met after breaking fast with the media at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur tonight, he described Anwar as a politician "greedy for power".
"This is a desperate attempt by Anwar," said Muhyiddin, who is also the international trade and industry minister.
F the soft, non confrontational approach. You are not against a fair playing government here. You are looking like a desperate politician trying to cling onto power. Have you read the Malaysian Insider review:
One should always call a spade a spade. In this case, Anwar's claim is a game of charades which is being inflicted on this country.
If he has the support there is no reason to believe he would not show the list of names to all Malaysians.
For all those Malaysians who felt their intelligence insulted by Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar when he said Sin Chew Daily journalist Tan Hoon Cheng had been arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for her own protection, here is another one courtesy of Anwar.
But more than an insult, what Anwar attempted today is an insult to all right thinking Malaysians who yearn for reform, and who have placed their hopes in Anwar and his PR alliance of parties.
Today represents a hammer-blow to the credibility of Anwar and his allies.
Malaysians who voted for PR parties in the March elections wanted change. Many were fed up with what they perceived to be the widespread corruption and arrogance of the BN government.
The strong message sent to the BN government also revived the flagging relevance of Anwar.
Anwar, ever the ambitious politician, smelled blood and instinctively went for the kill.
But his failure to deliver has inflicted a serious wound on the opposition parties. It is a question of credibility.
No one demanded that the PR alliance form the federal government by Sept 16.
Anwar made the pledge...
You are looking desperate. Needy. Attention seeking.
Act now. Be aggressive. If you want a government change, do it now!
This is no way to lead a country! Passively!
Take charge!
While you sit passively, ISA detainees are still locked up, the government is still milking us, and your credibility is falling by the day.
The people are waiting. They are waiting, but they won't wait forever!
We want action, we want action now!

Resign gracefully, Abdullah Badawi

Imagine you are the Malaysian PM Abdullah Badawi. Under siege from left right top bottom and center, from within UMNO, within your coalition, the opposition, NGOs and the public itself. Not a pretty sight huh?
From within UMNO, you are under attack from your ex mentor Mahathir. You are being challenged by grassroots leader and ex finance minister Tengku Razaleigh for the post of party president. Even your own right cabinet minister Muhyiddin has called for you to step down. And yesterday, one of your cabinet ministers resigned in protest. When you created your cabinet, many criticised and rejected posts in it. You are not popular.
From within your Barisan National coaliation, you are being challenged by virtually every party in the coalition. MCA and Gerakan have had grass root rumblings and have rumoured to be thinking of leaving the coalition. A report just came in that 80% of Gerakan members want the party to leave the coalition. Almost similar figures are evident in MCA. Your ex loyal allies, like Toh Kin Woon, Tan Yee Kew and Fauzi Abdul Rahman are quitting your party in droves and joining the opposition parties. The Sabah and Sarawak component parties are increasingly restless, demanding more and more from you.
And with the recent racially charged remark by one of your members of UMNO that refused to apologise, the coalition partners are increasingly seeing you as a racist. They think you will not stand up for minority rights, and condone those racist views. The fact that that member was only suspended for 3 years, a relatively light punishment, further convinces them.
And that only includes your 'allies'.
In the opposition bench, you have the strongest ever opposition in parliament, with 5 states under opposition control, the biggest number ever. Your home state is under opposition control. Your UMNO and BN party positions are at their weakest position ever in history in both the Senate and the Parliament, and Anwar is challenging, with much conviction and support, your position. Threats of crossovers are increasing by the hour. It seems that your grip on the PM-ship is loosening with every passing day. Your reforms and policies are being viewed as inefficient and ineffective.
Just a few weeks ago your main opponent Anwar was reelected to parliament with an increased majority, winning by more than double the amount of votes your candidate had. This, in the Malay heartland, where your support usually lies.
Outside, NGOs like Aliran and Mansuhkan ISA are increasingly being hostile to your administration. The Bar Council has demanded that you repeal the ISA act, and more and more rallies are being held with increasing support, more and more candlelight vigils are being held, defying you.
Public sentiment is strongly against you, with the increasing oil prices and the super inflation angering the nation. Your opponent Anwar on the other hand, just revealed an opposition budget that highly appealed to the masses.
Your nation is not doing well either, with the ringgit showing signs of weakening and the KL composite index losing almost 30% of its value compared to the beginning of the year. The economy is bad, the people are suffering, and they are angry at you.
Every action you do is wrong. You can do nothing correct, while your opponents can do nothing wrong. The ISA detentions a few days ago effectively turned the rest of the public against you. The sodomy allegations and charges against your main opponent Anwar, whether true or not, are being viewed as a cheap propaganda ploy by the public. Imam after imam and Ustaz after ustaz have come forward and said that Anwar is doing the right thing, while you are not. Just recently, a poem was written by the head mufti of Perlis asking you to resign. Membership of your party is dropping, while the opposition parties are gathering more and more members by the second.
Up do left right and center. You have been cornered. You have no where to run
What are you to do?
If you are Abdullah Badawi, what should you do?
My advise to you is to resign gracefully, and not get kicked out or booted out. Your position as PM of Malaysia cannot be maintained for any longer, and for the sake of your legacy (or lack thereof), you should resign.
At least people would view you as a PM that did little, rather than a PM that destroyed the nation.
Resign, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Resign gracefully.
The hipocrisy of the current regime
1. Use of the ISA against Tan Hoon Cheng
From malaysiakini:
The minister (Syed Hamid) claimed police intelligence have indicated that the journalist’s life came under threat after she reported an Umno division leader’s allegedly racist remarks.
- If someone's life is under threat, you detain her and not protect her?
- So after a detention of 16 hours, her life is not under threat anymore? Is the ISA a sin tan (magical pill)?
After making a fool of himself, he turns around, hours later and says:
Report from malaysiakini:
“The whole thing was started by her, (so) it was best that we talked to her,” Syed Hamid said in reply to a question during a press conference at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman today.
Asked to elaborate, Syed Hamid said the ripple effects from Tan’s article had caused “the polemic and fear” thus warranting investigations by the police.
- So is it the "polemic and fear" or is it "to protect her life"?
- If the reporting had caused "polemic and fear" then shouldn't the person that was quoted in the article that caused "polemic and fear" (Ahmad Said) be detained? A typical double standard practised by the BN, where UMNO members have one set of rules while the rest of us have another.
2. Teresa Kok
I take a quote from my earlier article: Do Malaysians look THAT stupid to you?
Why was Teresa Kok arrested? According to Malaysiakini, because she "(caused) tension and conflict among races". According to The Star, which quotes directly from the PM himself, she had "supposedly questioned the sensitive issues such as the azan (call for prayers for Muslims) to be stopped and that could cause ill will and disharmony."...
...the PAS MP for the constituency, the mosque itself, the residents of the area, and Teresa herself have repeatedly confirmed that...
- How is it remotely logical that the person that is a victim of obvious slander and defamation is arrested under the ISA while the one that slanders and defames has no action taken against him? Oh thats right. Because he's from UMNO. Again this shows that there are one set of rules for us commoners, while another set of rules for the high and mighty UMNO.
Syed Hamid should resign for not only misusing his powers as the Home Minister, but for making Malaysia the laughing stock around the world! This once again demonstrates to the world that Malaysia does not practise the rule of law, but the rule of the jungle when dealing with political dissent - what use are the courts when the police do not need to prove the state's case and do not need a judge's warrant to arrest and detain someone? It totally defeats the purpose of our justice system.
Moreover, this flagrant and blatant misuse of the ISA powers is firmly against the spirit of our constitution. What use is part 2 of our constitution, the individual liberties enshrined and guranteed to us Malaysians, when the state can, without justifiable cause, arrest and detain anyone it desires? This is not only against the spirit of the constitution, but the spirit of our nation and its founders as a whole. Tunku and his group of Malaysian founders would be weeping if they saw this today!

Police reports launched against Teresa - You think we are STOOPID or what?

KUALA LUMPUR: The Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) and the Islamic NGOs, Heritage Associations, Malay Cultural Organisations and Related Bodies Cooperation Network (Pewaris) have lodged police reports against Selangor state executive councillor Teresa Kok.
The reports were made by Pewaris advisor Rahimuddin Md Harun and PPIM Complaints Officer Mohd Nor Imran Yusuf at the Sentul district police headquarters at 11am on Sunday.
The reports were lodged over an allegation by former Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo that Kok had tried to prohibit the “azan” call to prayer at mosques and surau in Kota Damansara, Sri Serdang and Puchong Jaya.
Kok has denied the allegations and said she would seek legal recourse against Khir and a Malay daliy that had reported his allegations. Additionally, Kota Raja MP Dr Siti Mariah Mahmood lodged a police report against Khir on Sept 11.
Meanwhile, Rahimuddin told reporters later Sunday that the police reports were lodged because Kok’s alleged statements could hurt the feelings of the Muslim community.
There is no statement. Shouldn't you be lodging a report against Khir Toyo for making up a statement?
“We have made the reports so that the police can carry out the investigations on her because it is feared that the statements can spark racial animosity in Malaysia,” he said.
Indeed. But the report should be against Toyo for sparking racial animosity, not against Teresa who had nothing N O T H I N G to do with it.
PPIM secretary-general Datuk Dr Ma’amor Osman said in a statement that PPIM supported the government’s detention of Kok, Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamarudin and Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng under the Internal Security Act (ISA) on Friday. Tan was released on Saturday.
“The detentions are proof that the Government does not remain silent in matters involving racial sensitivities and the Federal Constitution.
“Matters such as these should be viewed seriously because, if ignored, they could incite hatred in the people, especially the Malays, because their special position has often been disputed by certain quarters,” he claimed. -- Bernama

This is obviously a another attempt by the pathetic Government in attempting to justify its misuse of the Internal Security Act against innocent 'Saint' Teresa Kok.
Once again we see the perfect example of how NGOs are misused by the government for political purposes.

Hartal (Nationwide strike) - The solution for 1947, the solution for ISA?
It was 1947. The British were desperately trying to hold on to power in Malaya. However, the people of Malaya wanted change. The people wanted the British colonial masters out. They wanted Merdeka.
The PMCJA-PUTERA alliance, a group of nationalist Malayans who opposed the British colonial rule declared that 20th October, 1947 would be Hartal day, a day where no Malayan would go to work. A nationwide strike. A nationwide protest to demand change. (And who says protesting is not in our culture?)
So do we Hartal ISA?
There are many comparisons that could be drawn between the political situation then and when in 1947.
- The British arrested dissenters under false pretenses (apparant communist insurgency) to hold on to power, the government is doing that now. (Malaysiakini reports: 1 2 3 4)
- The British stoked racial tensions to maintain power, the government is doing that now. (Malaysiakini report: 1 )
- The British ignored the voices of the people that protested and demanded change. The government is doing the exact same thing now. They are doing what the British imperialist did - crack down and arrest Malayans/Malaysians that dissent in a desperate measure to maintain power.
In 1947 a Hartal was declared. A nationwide strike. And boy did we Hartal.
Malayans around Malaya refused to pick up a shovel, refused to open shop, refused to drive busses, from the Kuantan to Melaka to Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh. The people refused to work. The people spoke. They spoke loud and clear.
So do we Hartal ISA? Do we have the same courage as our parents, grandparents, and greatgrandparents?
Do we Hartal like the people of South Korea, who just recently forced itself to be heard?
Are we as brave as the South Koreans?
I say we speak up. The current volume is not enough. We have to speak up louder and clearer, like in 1947 against the evil and draconian measures being taken by the current colonial masters. We have to speak up, by using the methods of the great Gandhi, by resisting. What better way to resist and protest by using non violent measures?
I say we Hartal ISA.

Why was Teresa Kok arrested? According to Malaysiakini, because she "(caused) tension and conflict among races". According to The Star, which quotes directly from the PM himself, she had "supposedly questioned the sensitive issues such as the azan (call for prayers for Muslims) to be stopped and that could cause ill will and disharmony."
What utter bullshit. B U L L - S H I T !
Mr Abdullah, do you think we are utterly stupid and incapable of coherent thought? It has already been firmly established that Teresa had no, I repeat, ZERO involvement in the matter. Both the PAS MP for the constituency, the mosque itself, the residents of the area, and Teresa herself have repeatedly confirmed that.
Even your statement, which states that she 'supposedly' questioned the sensitive issue admits that Teresa had no involvement whatsoever in the issue.
And yet you ISA-ed an innocent Teresa while those who started the rumour, Utusan, Khir Toyo, and pembelamelayu.com, walk away scott free.
