Read the following Malaysiakini report:
Foreign Minister Rais Yatim backed US presidential candidate Barack Obama on Tuesday, saying a victory for the Democrat would improve America's relations with the world.
"I hope Obama wins... due to the need of the world to see the United States represent a more cosmopolitan or universal political attitude and levels of relations," he told reporters.
"We have had the experience of sampling the Bush type of international politics and international dealings, so with Obama... I could visualise that there would be many more windows open to the world to understand America and for America to understand the world better," he said. - malaysiakini.com
I am personally a supporter of Barrack Obama. However, I find a Foreign Minister's backing of a candidate BEFORE he gets elected is irresponsible and stupid. Foreign Ministers should stay out of endorsing and supporting potential political candidates.
What if McCain wins? How would that affect US Malaysia relations? Think lah before you speak.
Ever wonder why no Foreign Minister or cabinet minister from anywhere outside the US has NOT ENDORSED EITHER CANDIDATE OPENLY? ONLY IN MALAYSIA YOU HAVE A FOREIGN MINISTER OPENLY ENDORSING ANOTHER NATION'S POLITICAL CANDIDATE! ONLY IN MALAYSIA!
Rais Yatim is not fit to be the Foreign Minister of any nation. His action today is both irresponsible and stupid; he has not only unnecesarily put US Malaysia relations at risk, he has also guranteed illwill towards Malaysia from Senator John McCain and the Republican Party.
Smart people use their brains before their shoot their mouths off.
ONLY IN MALAYSIA you can find a Foreign Minister that does not do that.

I remember Dr M once said he was relieved that Bush Jr won in 2000 because he was worried that Al Gore is going to have lots of problem with Malaysia if he wins. Look what Bush Jr did to the world after he took over.
Rais need to fix his country's problem. Don't Comment on ours.
