Malaysiakini's report:
A visibly agitated Bung Mukhtar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) has warned the government that it will lose power if it does not take care of rural constituencies, including Barisan Nasional (BN) seats in Sabah.
"If you do not take care of the rural folks, then someone else will run the country in future,” he said.
Debating the Supply Bill, the backbencher said he has repeatedly raised concerns about the roads in his home-state, but that these have been ignored. He said he wants projects to be implemented by next year.
The country has been gaining immeasurably from the oil palm estates and timber from Sabah, he said, but the BN has not taken care of the people’s interests.
"The problem is at ministry level. If the officer in charge is not willing to act, then replace him or her. If the secretary-general is unwilling to act, then replace him. And if the minister in charge is unwilling to act, then replace him,” said Bung Mukhtar.
"Those here who are listening from the Public Works Department, take this speech back to your bosses.
He rejected an invitation by N Gobalakrishnan (PKR-Padang Serai) to join the opposition.
"I am ill at ease, my people are ill at ease," he said, noting that Sabah has provided much support to the federal government both in terms of resources and parliamentary seats.
"Kelantan loses, (but) you still throw money there. Look at the states that are giving (support) to the present government," he exclaimed.
Calling for immediate action, he said: "My patience has ended. You (the government) are responsible for taking this up."
Makin Marcus Mojigoh (BN-Putatan) later spoke in support of Bung Mukhtar’s demands, saying he would “keep raising the matter until something is done" - malaysiakini.com
