An emergency motion to discuss the proposed appointment of Zaki Azmi as the new chief justice was rejected by deputy speaker Wan Junaidi Tuaku Jaafar in the Dewan Rakyat today.
The motion filed by Kubang Kerian MP Salahuddin Ayub was rejected by Wan Junaidi under Section 36 (8) of the standing orders which forbids discussions on the conduct or character of judges.
Zaki is currently Court of Appeal president and was nominated by the Conference of Rulers last week as the country’s top judge to replace Abdul Hamid Mohama - malaysiakini.com
