Muhyiddin qualifies to contest No. 2 spot - malaysiakini

With all the speculation behind him (malaysiakini.com report), Muhyiddin now gets the right to contest the deputy president of UMNO.

The Star reports:

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has qualified to contest the Umno deputy president’s post.

He received his 39th nomination from the Gerik Umno division Sunday morning, making him the leading contender for the post, so far.

The Umno headquarters had clarified that 39 nominations, not 38, constituted the required 20 percent of the 191 divisions' nominations needed to be eligible to contest the party’s number two post.

The other contestants are Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib, who has four nominations, while Datuk Seri Ali Rustam Mohd Ali has three.

The Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has swept all nominations for the presidency, to date, with a total of 46.

He needs 58 to contest the post and he is expected to get that easily.

Since am a visitor living in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, i would not have much say in the Malaysian politics but i would really encourage Malaysians to exercise their rights. Go Vote and select the right candidate to take care of your future Kuala Lumpur affairs. Democracy should take deeper roots in this country and the voice of the people should be heard by who they vote for. May the best candidate win.
